In recent years, there have been an increasing number of billiard exhibitions around the world, including in China. Cities like Wuhan in Hubei, Nanjing in Jiangsu, Hangzhou in Zhejiang, Beijing, Zhengzhou, and Guangzhou all host such events. Abroad as well, countries like Thailand and Vietnam hold exhibitions almost every month.
In recent years, there have been many new factories and businesses, but the quality of their products varies greatly. Apart from a few Chinese billiard factory owners who have been in business for decades, the products from other factories are really disappointing. Our technical staff, after seeing their products, exclaimed in surprise, "How can billiard cues like those even be put on the market these days?"
- Some painted Pool cues don’t even have a primer layer; with a gentle scratch from a fingernail, the wood is exposed.
- Some pool cues are clearly curved and not straight at all.
- Some pool cues have their centers of gravity not located at the center.
- Some of the cue woods aren’t fully dried yet.
There were many other surprises as well. We saw several factories that sold carbon fiber billiard cue actually using glass fiber to pass off as carbon fiber. Some even used a mixture of glass fiber andcarbon fiber to pretend it was pure carbon fiber. Their prices were extremelylow too—just 50 yuan RMB per cue.
What surprised us even more was the billiard cue exhibition held in Wuhan, Hubei in December 2025. When we arrived at the venue, none of the manufacturers were there to exhibit their products. It was quite embarrassing for us as we stood there in the empty exhibition hall with our colleagues.
Overall, the
Global Billiards Exhibition (GBE) in Guangzhou is larger in scale, with more brand exhibitors and traders present. Visitors who aren’t looking to meet manufacturers would definitely want to check it out. Free shows with beautiful girls are also available. The young girls pose gracefully around the billiard tables, creating an atmosphere reminiscent of a nightclub.
